What we treat

Every first visit starts with an orthopedic and neurological assessment alongside a traditional Chinese medicine exam, so treatment is aimed at the cause, not only the pain.

Insurance

We bill most insurance plans directly

Before your first visit we check your benefits and tell you what to expect. Coverage and network status differ from plan to plan, even within the same insurance company, so we verify yours rather than guess.

In network with UnitedHealthcare, Sutter Health Plan and Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Other plans, including Blue Shield of California and Medicare: see Insurance.

What we check for you

  1. How many visits your plan allows each year
  2. What your copay or deductible will be
  3. Whether we are in network or out of network for your plan

Questions

Questions patients ask

Do you take insurance?

Yes. We are in network with UnitedHealthcare, Sutter Health Plan and Palo Alto Medical Foundation and bill them directly, and we check your benefits before your first visit. For other plans, including Medicare, see Insurance.

Do you treat workers’ comp and auto accident injuries?

Yes. We treat workers’ compensation and personal injury patients from Santa Cruz and the surrounding area, and send the claim paperwork for you.

How many visits will I need?

Orthopedic acupuncture works as a course of care rather than a single visit. Most patients complete a short series of treatments over about a month, and we track function and pain at every visit.

When are you open?

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8am to 5pm. Tuesday and Thursday 11am to 6pm. Closed weekends.
